i've got the thrift store blues...

so i am now depressed, thanks to an impromptu thrift store trip. i found the most amazing metal 2-drawer file box with incredible drawer pulls. i put it into my cart, woozy with elation. no price, but that didn't worry me since the store prices things very low. at the checkout counter i proudly hoisted it up and announced that there wasn't a price. and then i watched helplessly as the guy took it from my arms and carried it far, far away from me and said that it would have to be priced first and due to store policy he couldn't do it and that i would have to try again tomorrow. and and and.... all these other things that meant it couldn't be mine. i finished paying for the rest of my things and left the store, shaky and wanting to vomit. yeah, i'm know i'm being dramatic, but you should have seen this thing!! unfortunately i have to be at work before the store even opens, so i can only hope that nobody else grabs it before i can stop on my way home. oh the agony!

but on another note, i found a couple of Elton John vinyls for Vintage Modern Boy, and some picture frames (including an oval one with convex glass, which i have been looking for for quite awhile).

but still, so sad am i!

have you ever had an experience like this??

...hello!

This is quite common actually. Especially where I live. If an item doesn't have a price, it must go back, you give them your name and you have to come back the following day at 10am. Quite routine. That's just one store though. Another one I go to will just make up a price, alot of times I think it depends on who's working. Sweet, nice employees. Or mean, grumpy ones that stick by the book {lol}
Don't be sad, I'm sure it will be there tomorrow. Wish I lived closer ;) I'd go pick it up for ya!

I had this (almost) happen once with the most gorgeous, mint-condition old typewriter. I was beside myself due to the store sign which posted the policy that any unmarked merch would have to be priced at another time or something like that. I think I'm an honest person, but I seriously considered sticking another tag on it just to avoid the scenario you described. Instead, we took it to the counter where the sales clerk shrugged and asked us,"Three dollars?" Oh lucky day! I hope you get yours!!!
