while i try to wait until the day after Thanksgiving, it's inevitable that some Christmas decorations will manage to find their way out of storage in the days..er...weeks before. such as what happened last night, shown in the photo above.
i started looking for vintage mirrors after falling in love with the awesome arrangements in Found Style and Flea Market Style. i've had the little silver hand mirror for a long time...it came from the estate of my great great aunt. the oval mirror at the bottom is from my local flea market and i got the bigger mirror on Etsy. i think they look just fabulous with those 1930's vintage ornaments and the mercury glass trees.
this cute little bottlebrush tree was a compromise between Vintage Modern Boy and i. you see, i really wanted a bigger pink table top tree. unfortunately, that idea didn't go over so well. i think the actual words were pepto bismol, barf, and hideous. so i settled for this teeny tiny pink tree, found on Etsy. (and it came with a little baby pink tree, too!)
so that's it for today. i'm trying to keep my mind occupied so that i don't end up getting the rest of the decorations out today, so i think some thrifting and a little Christmas shopping is in order!
have you started your Christmas decorating yet?

I am laughing so hard right now at vintage modern boy's comment on that adorable little tree....too funny!! :D We haven't started decorating yet but really looking forward to it. Love the mirrors by the way! Brenda
Do you have a guest bedroom? 'cuz I'm moving in. Just FYI. My hubby and yours will be besties, they have the same reactions to our creative genius!
Hugs,
Anne
I love the antique mirrors! Sooo pretty!
I think I will start my decorating next week. Its just hard b/c I have a cat who likes to attack pretty much everything I put out.
I am trying really hard not to make a trip into the attic today... I may have to start making more snowflakes though ;o I adore that little tree and you know mirrors make my heart go pitter patter!
Smiles~ Michelle
...charming little display with your mirrors. Vintage mirrors are so hard to resist. I'm having family visiting from out of town and I'm thinking I'll have the tree up for thanksgiving day for them ;)
I usually put it up the weekend after, but oh well. AND.. I may get a real tree this year. I have the most beautiful flocked artifical tree, I'm thinking I want something different this year!
I just happened upon your lovely blog today. Thank you for sharing! I too wanted a pink tree and the hubs said almost the same as yours. I did manage to compromise with a large white tree, but I will have to find a tabletop pink one for myself.

I love the mirror collection and your lil x mas trees they are so cute! However I'm not a fan of pink but that shade isn't too bad.. I like that old pink with a little of purple in it or brown.
I've been eyeing the decorations at the stores and I found the cutest things. I like the natural or vintage looks of course. ^_^
Hard to argue too much with our guys, huh? I love your pink tree! perfect compromise, and the simplicity of your branches and ornaments with the mirrors is beautiful. Have fun in the process!

I put all of our decorations out several days ago and, sadly, I waited longer than usual. ;) Love your vintage mirrors & the tree limb hanging with ornaments. Mercury glass is a favorite of mine, too. Enjoy the weekend. :)
Love, love, love it! :) I'll probably start my decorating this weekend, although, I have been doing some Christmasy projects! ;) Happy weekend!
Smiles,
Rachel
Oh - your place is looking good already! It was fun to get a peek into your holidays. I have not started decorating yet. Hopefully this weekend!
Love your vintage mirrors...haven't started decorating yet....work keeps getting in the way! Maybe this weekend!
Oh I am trying myself to wait, but over the last year I've picked up so many cute things that I can hardly wait! tee hee So, I've told myself next Friday the day after turkey day I can start! Now I have a goal!!! LOL I still love your style!! Take care, XO Fran.
Love your mirrors. I am trying to hold off until Thanksgiving...trying. If Thanksgiving wasn't at our house this year I think I would have already started!!
I'm in love with your decorations! For me, the best part of decorating is getting out all of my antique glass ornaments (including the ones from my great grandmother)!
Too bad you couldn't get a larger pink tree, although your tiny tree is super cute. Mr. Dinosaur Toes is nice enough to say, "I don't care how you decorate as long as I have a comfortable chair to sit in." So I've been thinking about looking for a 1960's silver tree!
OMG, I love your decor! So simple. I have branches in vases all over right now...how perfect, I will just add some Christmas balls! I have some vintage blue ones that were my ggrandma's that I love. I can't actually start decorating yet though, my landlord is doing some remodeling to my apt. and it's going to create some havoc for me in the next month. Grrr, nice timing!
vintage modern boy sounds like my husband:) adore that big mirror...gorgeous!! i am trying to wait to decorate...but a few things are creeping out in my house too:) happy weekend! xox..jenn
Lovely vignettes, love the little pink tree!
I love your frameless antique mirrors...my collection has grown to eight!!! My husband thinks I'm nuts for bringing them all home but I think they look fabulous hanging in my guest bathroom.

Happy Thanksgiving!

So glad, in some awfully perverse way, to read that your guy doesn't always love your style. Mine either! Love that first pic with the simple branch. Your blog is getting more gorgeous!
I love that cluster of mirrors!
I'm having a hard time holding off on the decorating myself! Great job and wonderful post as usual.
Have a marvelous Thanksgiving!
Cute little pink tree! Seems like a good compromise. You'd probably like one of my favorite decorating challenges with my husband. Hehe. http://foundnowhome.blogspot.com/2007/09/meet-columbia-our-new-lady.html
